This month we're studying Kenya. If you have any artifacts, souveniers, books, or photos from Kenya, we'd love to have your student bring them in and share them with the class. We just ask that kids learn a bit about the items with you at home, so that they can teach us what they know when they share in class.

ziplock Bags (gallon & quart sizes)Healthy Snack: granola bars, mandarin oranges, bananas, baby apples, fruit leather, popcorn, pretzels etc.Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap

This column is devoted to sharing what our team is learning. The best way to use the TOP TEN is to have your student read the list to you and explain more about each item.

1. In science we continue to measure, graph, and observe our plants.

2. In 3rd grade Writers Workshop we are working on our revising.

3. In 2nd grade writing we put in our 'poet's eyes' to see ordinary things in different ways.

4. In 3rd grade Math, we learned the partial sums multiplication algorithm.

5. On Friday we created our backdrops for our play.

6. In Library we played a game of Bingo using all the things we have learned this year.

7. In Readers' Workshop we continue to read independently while the teachers administer the Reading Assessment.

8. In Science we made models of a Brassic flower.

9. We had our final Passport Check of the year on Wednesday.

10. The Second grade writers had a celebration for all their hard work on their All About Books.

We want all students to have their lines memorized for our performance. We will meet in Room 12 at 6:15pm on Friday. Please make sure your student is there on time so we won't have to start the show without him/her. A very special thanks to Kay, Ann, and Nancy for working hard to make the costumes!

Book Exchange

The Book Exchange is coming soon. Please help us to provide gently used books to all of our Team members. Starting next week, we will begin taking your donations. Last year we had an overwhelming variety of books for our students to choose from. We appreciate your help in asking neighbors, friends, and family for donations of gently used children's books. We look forward to seeing the happy faces of our readers when they see how many books they have for summer reading!

Cake Walk Donations

Whether you prefer to bake or buy, we need your help donating cakes for the Family Fun Fair coming this weekend. The 4th and 5th grades use the money raised from the cake walk to off set the cost for the end of year overnight camp. Please bring a cake to donate. All shapes sizes, and flavors are needed. You can drop off the cakes in the office on Friday before or after school. On Saturday please drop cakes off on the stage in the Cafeteria by noon. We appreciate your help in supporting the 4th & 5th graders annual camp!
