Ways to Help

Volunteers contribute their skills in ways huge and small to help ALL of our student become independent learners.

We request that all parents set a goal of volunteering for Gatewood at least 10 hours throughout the school year.

Here are some ideas of ways to get involved.

Volunteer in the classroom.  The best way to reduce the student: teacher ratio is to have parents helping. Take a reading group out, help at Gonzo or other writing times, chaperone a field trip, help teachers with projects/photocopying/etc! There are many ways to make a difference!

Become a GATOR Aide for your child’s classroom.  GATOR Aides are “room parents”. They help with recruiting volunteers, organization and communication between the teachers and parents.

Join the PTA.  The PTA puts on a multitude of community builders and fundraising activities and always needs help making them a success.

Become a reading tutor.  Support our AmeriCorps volunteers program.

Sign up your Target credit card.  If you have a Target credit card, sign up your card for Gatewood Elementary. Target will donate up to 1% of your purchases to Gatewood. Call 1-800-316-6142 or visit www.Target.com/tcoe to sign up.

Sign up your Safeway card.  If you have a Safeway Card sign up your card for escrip. You can go online to www.escrip.com and sign yourself up for Gatewood Elementary or put your name (first & last), address with zip and 11 digit Safeway club card number on this paper, hand it into the office and we will sign you up! Note: Your club card number is not your telephone number. Call 1-877-723-3929 to get your club card number if you don’t have it.

Ask neighbors, friends and family to sign up!

Shop the eScrip Online Mall.  Over 1,000 online merchants will support Gatewood Elementary through your purchases. Follow this link or the buttons on the 'Welcome' or 'Links' pages: eScrip Online Mall.

Use our Amazon.com link.  If you shop at Amazon.com, enter the site through our link. Our unique link is http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=gatewelemesch-20  You can also access this link via the button on the 'Welcome' or 'Links' pages. Amazon gives Gatewood up to 10% of the purchases made through this link.

Save Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s Soup UPC signs.  Please put these in the labeled box next to the office.

Save your Thriftway receipts.  If you don’t use Thriftway Gift cards, please save your receipts. Thriftway will give us 1% of sales. Put these in the labeled box next to the office.

Choose a fundraiser to participate in.  The PTA runs many fundraising events: Sally Foster sales, Cookie Dough, Wreath/Poinsettia sales, the Auction, and the Walk-a-thon. You don’t need to participate in all of them. Our hope is that you will find one or two that you are happy to support. Gatewood PTA is a non-profit organization so donations may be tax deductible and don’t forget employer matching!
